8 Weeks Old

This past Friday Ethan turned eight weeks old. This makes him our longest running breastfed baby by a two week margin. We had to give that up with the other two kids at three and six weeks respectively, which was definitely for the best given the circumstances. People have also been commenting about how much bigger Ethan has gotten in recent weeks. While he is harder to hold (the football tuck is out ), there is a definite plus side. Last night the boy slept from 10:45 PM to 5:00 AM! This new phenomenom also occured on Friday night and a couple other nights last week. We sense that a pattern of skipping a feeding has started, which means a full night of sleep is near.

Whoo hoo, whoo hoo Whoo hoo, whoo hoo!!!

The funny thing about last night is that Ethan is not a very fussy baby. However, he kept crying and kicking around in spite of our efforts to settle him down. Finally, Pamela took him and laid him down in his crib. In less than fifteen seconds he was asleep! I think if Ethan could have communicated with words he would have said something like, “You idiots! Stop rocking me and sticking that pacifier in my mouth! Can’t you see that I just want to go to bed? Thinking back we realized that he had spent the entire day being held or crammed in an infant carrier. He just needed to stretch out and be left alone.
