35 Weeks

We went to the high risk specialist today. Pam’s appointments are usually at 8:00 AM on Fridays—in and out in thirty minutes—but we had to go at 10:00 AM on Thursday because they are closed this Friday. We waited over two and a half hours before being called back. The were short staffed and overbooked! Isabel was a real trooper through it all.

Speaking of Izzy, it was cute what happened when we were about to leave. Isabel was getting a sticker and a sucker from the “special drawer” at the nurses’ station. We started talking to Dr. Torez, who was downing Pisa Pizza between patients. He is our second favorite physician at Regional Obstetric Consultants (Dr. Adair is the best!). As we were speaking, Dr. Torez knelt down to help Isabel put on her sticker.

He said, “Look at you in your little Betsy Johnson outfit.”

I joked, “Yeah, those clothes cost more than mine. At least it was bought off of Ebay…and by my mother-in-law and not me!”

Dr. Torez replied, “Yeah, I know, I know. I stopped looking at the prices a long time ago. Ours just don’t even compare.”

Below is the latest face shot of “Kiki.” You cannot see it in this photo, but he apparently has a lot of hair (enough that there is a halo seen on the ultrasound). Aidan and Isabel did not have hair until they were two years old, so maybe this one got the Leavengood/Buenz gene? What a poor kid, because that means he will be bald by the time he is twenty.

9/28 Ultrasound

The doctor today said that she wanted to push it to thirty-nine weeks, barring early delivery due to a medical necessity (like when Aidan was delivered at thirty-five weeks because of low amniotic fluid). However, Pam’s O.B. said on Tuesday that she sees no reason not to deliver at thirty-eight weeks. This means baby on or around October 20th.

In related news Pam is ready for this pregnancy to be over. Trying to keep up with two kids, a house and other responsibilites is taking its toll. She is getting increasingly tired (doh), but is also experiencing a lot of lower back pain. Hopefully she can use the gift certificate to Madia’s Studio that I gave her for Mother’s Day to get a prenatal massage (it helped a lot with Aidan). Please pray for continued help, health and happiness.

Oh, poor Pam. Those last few weeks of pregnancy are so miserable, and when it’s the third (or 4th or 5th) you feel like you’ve been pregnant FOREVER! I’m praying for a 38 week delivery instead of 39. Kiki looks great. I love the way he’s got his little hand resting on his chest.

Let’s hope for the 19th or 21st to be safe.

We’ll keep you all in the prayers - but also let us know if we can take the kids one evening for a night off.
