Torino 2006 and the Problem of Delayed Broadcasts

I really wish the news media in America would provide a warning before announcing the results of the Winter Olympics. Thanks to Corey Flintoff I have watched zero of the women’s figure skating finals this evening. I have just plain lost interest.

One second I am driving home listening to radio news reports of sectarian violence in Iraq; the next second Corey is saying, “Sasha Cohen won the silver medal…”

Interesting that it took you this long to lose interest. I lost interest in the Olympics about 10 years ago. :)

Rob, I love the Winter Olympics! Ever since 1980 and Eric Hayden. You should have seen me pretend speed skating across our hardwood floors in my socks.

NBA basketball…now that’s a sport I lost interest in about ten years ago. ;)

Well, I had the option to turn off the radio last night because NPR warned me, but I didn’t. It allowed me to go bed earlier and tape it for my own personal highlight reel later tonight.

I’m glad they warned you…I wish they’d be consistent. ABC did a warning this morning on GMA, but you would have heard it long before you had a chance to grab the remote.

I’m not sure I understand this… did you just admit, AS A MAN, that you are disappointed not to be watching women’s figure skating???

Skating is way underrated as an athletic sport. Besides, how can you pass up listening to Dick Button’s color commentary? It’s better than American Idol.
