Ding! Dong! The Wart is Gone

Aidan post wartAidan had the wart on his nose removed today. I wish I could have been there, as these types of procedures facinate me. After applying some local anesthetic, the doctor just scraped it off. They put something on it to keep the wart from growing back and bandaged him up. All we have to do is keep it clean and covered with antibiotic ointment and bandaids.

The funniest part was when they put a piece of tape on his nose (along with some cream). Aidan yelled, “No, not duct tape!” There was a study about how duct tape is effective at removing warts than freezing them with liquid nitrogen. If you keep the wart covered with a small piece of duct tape the body’s immune system is able to fight the virus naturally. Pamela and I talked about the home remedy and even joked with Aidan at one point. The reason we did not try it is because it takes six weeks or more to work.

My mom tried the duct tape thing and it didn’t work for her within six weeks. I think it took a little while longer.

That is a really long time to have the magical gray tape on your body! I suppose if it was on a remote location it would not be so bad :)

hmmm, interesting about the duct tape… sure didnt learn about that in nursing school. but I am beginning to discover they dont teach you much. I bet the doc wondered why a kid would yell “no duct tape”… seems a little fishy… somethin goin on in the kennedy house.

I added a link above to a news story about the duct tape study. It was mentioned on one of the monring news programs the other month, but the original experiment was in 2002.

BTW, nothing strange happening here…now what’d I do with that rope?
