Pamela was watching ABC News this morning and saw a couple being interviewed in Mobile who had fled Biloxi after the storm hit. They lived in the same neighborhood as Miss Judy (that is her first name), one of the people I mentioned last night who had stayed behind at her home (close to the back bay between Popps Ferry and Big Lake roads).
The woman being interviewed said that their neighbor had called and told them her house was flooding, so the husband went down the street and brought the neighbor and a friend of hers back to their house. They moved upstairs and put the woman as high up as they could (on their bed), since she had been in an auto accident last year on the way to Birmingham and had lost the use of her shoulder (i.e., she could not climb into the attic).
That has to be Miss Judy! There are too many coincidences to the story (the location, the car accident, etc.). After their house flooded the couple and neighbors were able to get out and make their way to Mobile. This is a huge sigh of relief and praise.
In addition to the power and phone lines being out, we have learned that the cell phone towers in Biloxi were are also torn down. No news is not bad news, but there is a lot of apprehension. Thank you for your continued prayers and concern.

This coming Labor Day weekend our extended family was planning to meet in Atlanta for a Braves game on Friday night. Then on Saturday we were going to go see Daniel, my brother-in-law, in Clemson, SC. We are now canceling all hotel reservations in GA and SC. Albert, my other brother-in-law, and I are preparing to head down to Biloxi to help my in-laws with the clean-up efforts. We will be waiting to hear from Pamela’s dad so that we can determine what supplies we need to bring.

Hi Scott and Pam
Oh I just heard that US 49 is still not open,as they are cutting trees to open the roads. They may not let anyone except emergency vehicles in the area for several days. Do you think I could call the RedCross to check on mom? I just assume that she’s ok and safe. Happy to hear that Judy seems to be ok. I heard from Lois this morning she’s going to take a shower. Woohoo! Apparently where she is is very comfortable as the church cool (in the basement). I have David Brands email address and will try to contact them in Jackson. Hopefully they will have power.Too bad they dont have a cb. We have some, but we also have an 8 Track!
Take Care
Love you. Hugs and kisses for Aidan and Isabel.
Love,
Aunt Mary
Yes, either the Red Cross or I believe that also on the Sun Herald or the WLOX websites there is a contact number for information about loved ones. You could try calling it and see if they can get any information on the nursing home. The Gulfport Police or even State Patrol might also be helpful.
Pam just called and said that her folks are going to drive into Biloxi to assess the damage to the business/home and then go back to Mobile to regroup and make a plan.
we are continuing to pray for your family - do you know anything about Batch and Holli?
